Translate to English Bookmarklet on iOS

Here is the recipe to get bookmarklet directly in Safari on iPad. By creating a bookmark with the following Java code, you can read international sites (like this norwegian site) in English anytime, anywhere. How-to:

1. Copy the following text to the clipboard:

javascript:var%20t=((window.getSelection&&window.getSelection())%7C%7C(document.getSelection&&document.getSelection())%7C%7C(document.selection&&document.selection.createRange&&document.selection.createRange().text));var%20e=(document.charset%7C%7Cdocument.characterSet);if(t!='')%7Blocation.href='http://translate.google.com/translate_t?text='+t+'&hl=en&langpair=auto%7Cen&tbb=1&ie='+e;%7Delse%7Blocation.href='http://translate.google.com/translate?u='+escape(location.href)+'&hl=en&langpair=auto%7Cen&tbb=1&ie='+e;%7D;

2. Create a bookmark, you choose the name. F. eks «Translate to English»

Note: Safari does not allow to change the adress bar until after you have saved the bookmark. Save first – then go to edit bookmarks and select the one you just saved.

3. Paste text from clipboard into the box belove the namefield. Ress return to bookmarks, press done.

That’s it.

When you’re done with this Bookmarklet, go on with others eg Evernote, Instapaper an Google Reader.
